When I started using the VA for medical I had no idea what the benefits were or meant. So the unknowing went into the intake office and started asking questions. Like, what else is available for a 10% connected veteran. The response was this that and the other including vision and hearing aids. Vision, well, I wear glasses, how does that work? After a little direction walked over to the vision department and scheduled an inspection. Never miss a scheduled inspection (appointment). After a thorough exam was directed to the Optical Clinic in the lower catacombs of the building. Was able to order two pair of glasses, one for computer use, the other everyday use. Both pair were sent via standard mail. Not long ago a nose pad fell off the everyday use and left me with an obvious question. Would Costco, only a mile from us, fix VA glasses (40 miles to the VA site)? Well the answer would be YES. Take them VA glasses to Costco and the tech said, "Hey, these are VA glasses, I'll take care of them and Thank You for your service." So if you're thinking yeah, but, don't want a set of BC's from the VA. Times have changed at the VA. The glasses in the below image are not your ordinary BC's. They were one of the many options at the Optical Clinic at the VA. Also took the same prescription from the VA to Lenscrafters for an industrial pair for work. The Lenscrafters option produced an excellent pair of safety glasses.
